After some great feedback on our last glass event, on Thursday the 13th of August we will be hosting our second ‘Design Construct’ event back at Wolf Lane Bar in Perth. This time around we have Dave Lee from Eastman Chemical as our guest speaker discussing all things laminated glass.
Established in 1918 and now with 15,000 people globally and annual turnover of US$9.5b, Eastman Chemical are the recognised as the world’s leading manufacturer of PVB interlayers. Eastman manufacture under the brand names of Safelex, and Vanceva, of which Cooling Brothers are established suppliers for both. You might recognise the Vanceva from our recent project with Rick Vermey, in Subiaco.
Once again we’ll be throwing on lunch and drinks in the city at the central location of Wolf Lane Bar. Dave will be taking over the mic for 45mins to discuss the below topics, including a Q&A session to finish. Extra prickly questions wholeheartedly encouraged.
- Recent issues experienced within the construction industry as a result of inferior PVB laminates, something that is becoming increasingly prevalent within imported glass, and increasingly harder to spot.
- A live breakage demonstration between a structural and non structural interlayer. Volunteers may be required from the audience to demonstrate glass strength.
- A look at future trends of laminated glass, including the latest high performance interlayers that can negate the need for a Low E coating.
- Best practice design methodology when selecting interlayer types for structural glass projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage Dave’s extensive technical knowledge and bounce any questions or issues you may be experiencing off him during the event. We encourage all attendees to stay around afterward the presentation for further discussion.
