Lynley’s illuminated ImagInk printed glass water feature was the cherry on the cake for her stunning pool renovation in North Beach, Perth. Looking for a printed glass panel that would not deteriorate from water being pumped over it, Lynley approached Cooling Brothers after hearing about the durabilty and weather-proofing properties of the ceramic inks used in ImagInk printing.
Cooling Brothers were able to offer a full service package for the project, which started with the graphic design done in-house by the ImagInk design team. After experimenting with different transparencies, it was decided the ImagInk print should be done in white, at a 50% ink coverage. This would allow some of the colour from the wall behind to show through but still maintain enough vibrancy in the white ink to have visual impact from a distance.
Once the design was approved, the Cooling Brothers glaziers went out to liaise with the installers from Aquatic Leisure Technologies to fine tune the position of the LED lighting and water distribution system over the glass. With the printed glass ready, the glaziers returned to install the digitally printed 6mm glass using 6 stainless steel standoffs to lift the 2.5sqm panel 100mm away from the wall.
With the water pump providing a soothing stream of water over the printed glass, the LED’s illuminate the ceramic inks, creating a glowing water feature with organic design that looks equally impressive at day or night.
