Sick of looking at the wobbly pin-up boards all around our office, we decided to redesign our boards with a sturdier framing system that could accommodate some printed glass designs to liven our office space.
The designs of the boards were created in-house by our ImagInk department, and we turned to our factory for inspiration as to what we should print on the glass partitions. The designs started with a series of photos taken from all over our factory – the machines, working areas, sheets of glass, even close ups of cutting beds and pressure gauges.
These photos were then turned into half-tones and printed on glass with overlays of varying sheets and lines filled with the two company blues. The negative space was then filled by colourbacking the glass with a white 2 pack paint; the same process we use for our printed and standard range of splashbacks.
The result is an abstract, dynamic, slightly industrial design, that flows over adjoining panels to create a continual mural that spans our office walkways. There are 15 partitions in total, and the printed glass covers 33 square metres of space. A much better look and feel than 33sqm of pin-up boards!
