Cooling Brothers announce raft of new innovations for 2023
Cooling Brothers Glass Company has a national reputation for its glazing innovations, including decorative glazing, and producing solutions to withstand natural and artificial extremes, including solar, noise, security, ballistics, and cyclonic customised glass solutions. The business works closely with architects, artists, building designers, and specifiers, and its landmark projects include the Mineral Resources’ headquarters, Brookfield Place, and Crown Resorts.
Moving into 2023, Cooling Brothers has released significant updates to the company’s core product ranges of Insulcool Double Glazing, Toughened Laminated Glass, and Imagink Digital Ceramic Printing.
New Insulcool Triple Silver soft coat meets strict NCC requirements for solar control
Recent changes to the National Construction Code demand higher levels of solar control for new commercial buildings. The changes have raised concerns as previously this would have called for a heavily tinted glazing specification, reducing visible light transmission (VLT) and detracting from the building’s appearance.
However, in big news for architects and builders, Cooling Brothers has released Insulcool ™ Ultra Plus triple-silver soft coats – commercial double-glazed units that optimise light transmission while controlling solar energy to NCC requirements.
Sales director Vince Bianchini says the new Ultra Plus range of triple-silver coated glazing systems represents a significant advance for commercial building design and construction, delivering an optimum ratio of natural light transmission and solar energy control.
“The triple-silver soft coated glass performs exceptionally well in Australia’s solar extremes, ensuring commercial projects specifying Ultra Plus will meet the NCC’s challenging solar requirements.
Important notes: Calculations and terms in this report are based on NFRC 2010. The performance values shown above represent nominal values for the center of glass with no spacer system or framing.
“The solar control glass allows natural daylight to pass through while radiating and reflecting away solar energy. This means interiors stay lighter and far cooler than with standard glass. The triple-silver coated glass also reduces the volume of artificial light required and the size of the HVAC system, further improving a building’s energy performance.”
The Ultra Plus Range will help to achieve the most demanding specification in expansive glazed areas, including facades, shop fronts, windows, and overhead glazing. Like all Cooling Brothers products, the triple-silver coated Ultra Plus range complies with Australian standards.
5m Toughened Panels: New Glaston Furnace now online
The business recently commissioned a Glaston furnace which increases size specifications of toughened or heat-strengthened glass to 5000mm long x 2480mm wide. The new furnace allows the company to continue to industry demands for podium level and shopfront glass that minimise fittings and silicone joins to achieve seamless expanses of light.

1400dpi resolution upgrade plus 4800mm panels for ImagInk digital ceramic printing
Cooling Brothers’ latest innovations also include significant improvements to the company’s industry leading ImagInk™ ceramic printing.
The DipTech digital printer has been upgraded to the latest DX-3 model, enabling it to print at 1400 dpi on oversized glass panels up to 4800mm x 2480mm. With full-colour capability, the ImagInk™ ceramic ink is guaranteed for 25 years. The DX-3 versions is also faster, and with greatly improved colour matching accuracy – ensuring consistent colour reproduction.
Cooling Brothers’ increased printing capability offers greater possibilities for designers, engineers, architects and artists, extending its capacity to manufacture printed facades, interior fit-outs, lobby walls, canopies, balustrades and spandrels. In addition, special features, such as non-slip glass flooring, can now be manufactured locally.
“The ultra-high resolution decorative process can now realise architectural and artistic designs in greater detail and produce larger panels. By incorporating Imagink with custom laminated glass, we can now produce larger sizes, enhancing decorative spaces and allowing for larger panels when designing your next project. If you can design it, we can print it.”
Vince Bianchini says the exceptional skills of the Cooling Brothers workforce allow the business to innovate and take on new technologies.
“When you specify a Cooling Brothers product, you deal with a local manufacturer and can have confidence in its quality, compliance, and delivery,” Vince says. “We look forward to servicing the WA and Eastern States markets with our improved capacities throughout 2023 and beyond”
